A Long Look at Technology and My Life

A Long Look at Technology and My Life

Technology has had an hold on me for a long time, ever since I had the pleasure of sitting in a computer lab during my days of high school but it did not take a hold of me until much later in my life when everything I did started to revolve around the love hate relationship that I have with computers and devices.  The way that solving a problem by applying logic and code is something that has for a very long time taken me down some very different paths than what my life I thought I would live would be. I am the person that employers, friends and family turn to when they are having a “tech dilemma” and this has for a very long time intrigued me but only recently has technology made my life both more fulfilling and more difficult.  For many years I saw my love affair with the latest kit and language or process was a benefit but then came a new stage in my life. Technology Freeing Us from Bonds – Or Making Us All Slaves

It is funny how technology has the ability to both connect us to each other in new and amazing ways and at the same time isolate us and make each and everyone of us who embraces the world of technology beholden to the whims and the changes that it provides. WebApp Wednesday – Markdown

During my evaluation of Content Management Solutions for the relaunch of this site I looked at a lot of Flat File CMS’s that not only supported the Markdown Language but were built directly around it.  Despite returning to the site’s roots as a WordPress based website, I fell in love with the idea of being able to not only write the posts and pages in a language that was easy to understand where the code was coming from, but would also enable me to port the information over to PDF in real time without loosing any formatting or needing to rebuild things with the wonderful world of Copy & Paste. I live and breath with the Chrome Browser and as nice as it is to be able to leverage a native application, I found myself needing the option to be able to move from my Desktop, to my Chromebook to my Tablet and to my phone with a single application that I could save my .md files directly to my Google Drive that is enabled across all of the devices…and … Read more

Browser Wars….who is winning the hearts and minds for internet usage?

Browser Wars….who is winning the hearts and minds for internet usage?

Yesterday I posted some statistics from w3schools.org that had Firefox well in the lead in the ever heated battle for the “market share” on the internet.  There are 5 big players out their, all trying to be the top dog and win us over, for my visitors since my first post in lat April the statistics are pretty similar to the listings available from Wikipedia and Netmarketshare.com these stats are relatively accurate.
