The World is on Fire…Kindle Fire that is

The release date of the Kindle Fire is just 4 days away.  The Postal Service and UPS are going to be pretty busy, some of the reports that I have seen show that the 50,000 pre-orders per day that were reported in the first week of the announced release date of November 15 stayed pretty consistent and there could be upwards of 1,000,000 of these 7 inch beauties in the hands of consumers next week.

What are consumers going to get when they jump on board with the latest bit of tech gadgetry?

  • 18 million movies, TV shows, songs, magazines, and books
  • Thousands of popular apps and games, including Netflix, Pandora, and more
  • Ultra-fast web browsing – Amazon Silk
  • Free cloud storage for all your Amazon content
  • Vibrant color touchscreen with extra-wide viewing angle
  • Fast, powerful dual-core processor
  • Favorite children’s books, graphic novels, and magazines in rich color

I think that the size is right, the price is absolutely right ($199) and the positioning of the Kindle Fire is spot on.  iPad killer…not sure if I would go that far but there is a market for this type of device and I will be getting one sooner rather than later!

On another note of tablets and e-readers…Plastic Logic just announced the PL100 all plastic e-reader that is rumored to sell for about $400 but the amazing thing is that it will be “student proof” and designed to be nearly indestructible. The market for the device is the education system where the average text book runs $80 or more and the device will be able to hold 2000 books.

Well Friday is finally here.  It has been one of those weeks that seems to have stretched on and on and now the weekend is just mere hours away.  For my early morning readers…remember today is a day of remembrance.  Take a minute at 11:00 to think about the sacrifice that was made for you by young men from around the world in 2 World Wars so that we could have the freedom to #Occupy, and generally do what we want today.

Cheers,
