This Day in Tech History – The Computer Mouse

November 17

If you use a computer at all, it is hard to imagine a time before the introduction of the Computer mouse and the cursor that all to frequently disappears from view causing us to wave the little bit of technology around until we can locate it again.  The computer mouse was patented on this day in 1970.  Douglas Engelbart receives US patent 3,541,541 for his “X-Y Position Indicator For A Display System” is a testimonial to how a piece of technology can take a long time to come into its own as the now ubiquitous device with every Desktop PC was not a commercial success until it was included with the Apple Macintosh in 1984.
