For many of us, the New Year’s Resolutions that we laid out for ourselves just 30+ hours ago are already out the window or are about to be as we get ready to head back to work after the Holidays. There is another way to chart, administer and increase the path to a successful year and that is through the use of a Success Action Plan that is designed by us, for us. Laying our souls to bear and focusing on what we each want to achieve with a fresh start and a new perspective is key and if far more important than some randomly chosen Resolution.
The inspiration for this post came from a great post by Todd Nielsen over at www.asliceofleadership.com. In the article it is laid out into several stages that start with an Annual Vision and conclude with a Reward…this will likely sound familiar as it is very similar to a structured Goal Setting Process but it lets you look at your Year and not just a nebulous focus on one topic or one objective.
I really like the output that he put together that breaks down is focus into several key areas:
- Intellectual Stimulation
- Financial Success
- Physical Wellness
- Professional Growth
- Giving Back
I will be sitting down and building one of these charts for myself as I see 2012 being a year of extremes for me. Decisions will be made that there is not turning away from and my path may be radically altered for ever because of these changes.
As you look to 2012 what will your Success Action Plan be? I really like the idea of the Recurring Reminders coming from yourself to give you the push and increase drive towards your Plan over at www.sendrecurring.com this keeps your Vision in sight and reduces our natural procrastination tendencies from taking over.
