The world of Social Media had yet another round of acquisitions yesterday as the Professional Networking Giant LinkedIn made the bold move of snatching up SlideShare for a cool $119 Million.
I have enjoyed using SlideShare for several years now and I think the purchase and deeper integration into LinkedIn will be a huge boost to both companies. I do presentations everyday, the majority coming from a customized version of a company sponsored PowerPoint Deck but others are completely original. These presentations are a distinct reason why I decided to joint a local Toastmasters Club.
What will the future of SlideShare be though now that they will be directly part of the LinkedIn EcoSystem?
“Presentations are one of the main ways in which professionals capture and share their experiences and knowledge, which in turn helps shape their professional identity,” said LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner. “These presentations also enable professionals to discover new connections and gain the insights they need to become more productive and successful in their careers, aligning perfectly with LinkedIn’s mission and helping us deliver even more value for our members. We’re very excited to welcome the SlideShare team to LinkedIn.”
Liar Liar, Pants on Fire is what first comes to mind when I stumbled across the story that Yahoo CEO “fudged” his resume saying he earned a Computer Science Degree from Stonehill College…ReadWriteWeb reports that this feat was accomplished 4 years before the school first offered the course of study which is either very very impressive…or an out right fabrication..
This is not the first time that Scott Thompson has touted his Advanced Computing Degree that he does not have. The same claim was made when he was he President of the PayPal division over at eBay…the house of cards for Yahoo may finally start to come to a complete collapse. Is this indiscretion the end of the once powerful Internet Search Giant?
Sleek, Silver and Sexy…I have been hearing the rumors about this 4.8inch thing of mobile computing beauty for weeks now but Samsung made the global release announcement yesterday in London England and well lets just say that this is one person who is now chomping at the bit.
I did see a good comparison of the specs that pit the SII vs the iPhone 4S vs the Nokia Lumia 900 and well lets just say not only is there a lot of real estate on this phone…it has the power to really take Android to the next level! Thanks to the gang over at www.redmondpie.com for putting this comparison chart together:
Hurry up and release in Canada, I was thinking I would just make the investment in a Galaxy Note…but I really like the Sleek Silver Look!
