This Day in Tech History – ARPANet and the Phonograph

November 21 In looking through the records of the Tech Past, this day is rather profound for a couple of reasons.  On this day, back in 1877, Thomas Edison announced his invention of the Phonograph.  It was a far cry of what would become the record player we know today…but at the time, it was the first real way of permanently recording and replaying sound. Also on this day, back in 1969 the first permanent link of ARPANet (which would become the Internet we all know and love) was established between Interface Message Processor or IMP at UCLA and the IMP at the Stanford Research Institute.
