This Day in Tech History – The Amazon Kindle

November 19

Before this day in 2007, the only real way to consume a book was to read a paper version of the words (okay the Sony releases the Librié was released in 2004…but had very limited success).

Sure you could read it on your computer screen, but that was at best tedious, at worst uncomfortable as you took your 19″ CRT Monitor to bed with you.  Just in time for the Black Friday Shoppers, Amazon released its Kindle product that almost immediately took the world by storm and allowed entire bookshelves to be loaded onto a single device and books became ultra portable.

I have one, and while I use it sparingly as I prefer my tablet to read from…it does serve a purpose in my tech collection!
